The 1st Infantry Division Band will make a stop at the Rex Theatre in Clay Center on Thursday, December 4th, to perform its Holiday Concert Series, “The Most Wonderful Time” at 7:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Bridget Olenik, Commanding General, said they will have something for everyone.
“We will have a little bit of something for everyone. We have music from the standard Christmas songbook, and we’ve got a lot of the hits that you’ll hear on the radio for years and years.”
“We’ll include a couple of jazz standards in the holiday season realm, and we also have a couple of different pieces of music from other cultures and backgrounds to celebrate the entire holiday season.”
The concert will begin and end with adaptations of their theme “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Olenik said two weeks leading up to their shows, the band practices very hard to be sure everything is ready for each audience and community they visit.
Olenik said she is very proud that they get to reach out to communities across the state as part of the 1st Infantry Division.
“I’m so proud to be a part of the 1st Infantry Division and what the band does in the various communities across the state.”
“We love the part of our job where we get to go out, leave the base, leave the gates with our big red one patch on.”
“We get to go out and talk to our communities, our civilians, our veterans, and the families of soldiers.”
“We get to share our connection through music.”
With the holiday spirit in full swing downtown, it would be a great evening to enjoy the Festival of Trees on the Courthouse Square, then finish the evening at the Rex Theatre with the 1st Infantry Band.
