2025 ‘Clear the Shelters’ Month Set to Kick Off at CCARE

By: Ryan Duey

The Clay County Animal & Rescue Education Center (CCARE) will participate in the 2025 “Clear The Shelters” pet adoption event throughout August. This national initiative has helped over one million pets find new homes since its inception in 2015.

John Rieb, Shelter Manager, said Clear the Shelters is one of the big yearly projects they do throughout the Shelter.

“We’re going to be doing $75 adoption fees all month long in hopes that we can clear as many dogs out of the shelter as possible. This will be within our normal business hours, and they must be pre-approved applications with the prior meet and greet.”

“We will also have ‘Spin the Wheel Saturdays’ for prizes or additional reduced adoption fees.”

On top of the Spin the Wheel Saturdays, they will also host a special event on August 23rd in hopes of finding new homes for all the dogs at the Shelter.

“We are doing a special event on August 23rd at the Shelter from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.”

“This will be an open house/tour of the facility, and all adoption fees will be waived that day. We are going to be doing a meet and greet with shelter staff and board members, plus we will have refreshments as well.”

“We would like everyone to try to come down and see our doggies and mingle with us a little bit. If anyone has any questions, definitely ask us and we’ll get them answered.”

Visit CCARE’s Facebook page or website to see all the adoptable dogs.  Give the Shelter a call during their business hours for information on this national event.
