3 Car Crash Just North Of Clay Center Sends Person To Hospital With Serious Injuries

A three-vehicle crash just north of Clay Center on Thursday afternoon sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash was reported at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday just 5 miles north of Clay Center on highway 15.

The Kansas Highway Patrol’s online crash log reported a northbound 1999 Toyota Rav4 crossed the centerline, colliding with a southbound 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The Rav4 then collided with a southbound 1989 Frieghtliner semi trailer.

The driver of the Rav4, David Michael Dean, 64, of Clay Center, was transported to Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center with serious injuries. The patrol said Dean was wearing his seat belt.

The driver of the Dodge, Max Martin, 80, of Clay Center, and passenger Kathryne L. Martin, 78, also of Clay Center, were both reported to have possible injuries, however there are no records of either being transported to the hospital. The KHP said both individuals were wearing their seatbelt.

The driver of the Freightliner semi, Aaron Michael Wulff, 49, of Persia, Iowa, was reported uninjured. The KHP said Wulff was wearing his seat belt
