17 businesses designed by Clay County high school students recently participated in the 2024 Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. The program aims to encourage Clay County youth to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and start new businesses in Clay County.

Boston Craig, a CCCHS sophomore, won first place and the People’s Choice Award in the competition for her macrame business Simply Knots & Co. Craig said she first got the inspiration for Simply Knots & Co from 4-H around 4 years ago.

Craig said the business classes at CCCHS and the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge have been a valuable source of knowledge as she created Simply Knots & Co.

Craig won a total of $1,250 from the 2024 Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. She said she plans to invest that money back into her business in the form of a website and new macrame material
