Clay Center High School’s Senior Brody Hayes was selected for Kansas Shrine Bowl West team. Hayes played a role in Clay Center’s football success, contributing to team’s status as one of the top teams in 3A. In his senior year Hayes had: 101 tackles, two interceptions, six pass breakups, and a pick-six. On offense, he accumulated 1,441 all-purpose yards, concluding high school career with over 3,600 yards and 45 touchdowns.
Hayes has earned recognition as the Salina area Defensive Player of the Year and has been named to the Kansas Football Coaches Association 3A All-State Team. He shares this honor with teammates Jackson Henry and Braylon Berry. Additionally, Coach JD Lane, affiliated with Clay Center’s program, has been honored as the Assistant Coach of the Year.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl is an annual event that supports Shriners Children’s, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. It has been hosting the East vs. West All-Star Senior Football Game since 1974. The organization has contributed over $3.8 million to Shriners Hospitals for Children since its inception in 1974.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a healthcare system with 22 hospitals, providing pediatric specialty care, research, and teaching programs for medical professionals. Their services are offered to children up to the age of 18, regardless of their ability to pay.
