Carol Worley, a golfer at the Clay Center Country Club, celebrated a significant milestone last Sunday by achieving her second hole-in-one. The impressive feat occurred during a Sunday scramble (a mixed event involving both men and women). On the second hole, spanning approximately 127 yards, Worley used her 5-wood to sink the ball, much to the delight of her fellow golfers.
Reflecting on her second hole-in-one, Worley shared, “This one was much more exciting because you could actually see it go in the hole”. Her first hole-in-one was on July 2, 2014, on the fifth hole of the same course. “It was very exciting… being the first one,” she recalled.
Worley’s journey in golf began when she was 40 years old, inspired by her husband, Steve. “I decided if I ever wanted to see him, I better join him on the golf course”. Over the years, she has become a regular on the greens, often playing three times a week and sometimes more, driven by her passion for the sport and the camaraderie of her friends.
Worley enjoys the sport immensely and values the friendships she has made through golf. She continues to play regularly and enjoys every moment on the course. “Golf is a sport you can play no matter how old you get… just keep playing as long as you can” (00:06:44), she advises fellow golfers.
