CCARE is Hosting an Open House to Clear the Shelter

By Trish Svoboda

CCARE has been clearing their shelter to prepare for the installation of new flooring. Throughout the month of August CCARE has been offering $75 adoption fees, and on August 26th they are hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where potential adoptees can tour the facility, enjoy refreshments, and meet the shelter manager and board members. Adoption fees will be waived until 1 p.m. with a pre-approved application and prior meet and greet.

The shelter will be closed from August 27th – September 4th, and cannot accept any new dogs into the shelter through September 5th. CCARE offers tips on its Facebook page as to what the community can do to help out.

Some of those tips include:

· Make sure your dog does not get loose by securing doors, gates, and tie-outs.

· Write your contact information on your dog’s collar.

· If you find a lost dog, take a photo and post it along with the location on the Clay Center KS Lost/Found Pet page and try to find the owner.

CCARE would also like to remind everyone that the police will not be able to come get dogs because they will have nowhere to take them.
