Over the past several years, Clay County Animal Rescue and Education Center and their volunteers have been using their TNR program to steadily decrease Clay Center’s feral cat population.
TNR stands for trap, neuter, and release, said CCARE Shelter Manager John Rieb.
Rieb said the public should not touch any CCARE traps should they find them.
Rieb estimated the CCARE TNR team has captured and released several hundred cats since the start of the program. Reib said you can tell if a cat has been neutered or spayed if the top of its ear has been clipped.
