The Clay County Health Department (CCHD) is pleased to announce that they were graciously provided with additional vaccines.
With this, the department has started a “Vaccines for Adults” Program for uninsured and underinsured adults. Qualifying participants are able to get vaccinated at discounted prices.
Nikki Burwell, Public Health Nurse, gave a rundown of the many vaccines CCHD has available.
“Right now, we have the HPV vaccine, the meningococcal B vaccine, shingles, Prevnar 20, the MMR vaccine, and the Tdap vaccine.”
“Coming in about October, we will have flu and COVID vaccines available.”
Burwell said the shingles and pneumonia vaccines are meant for adults aged 50 and up. These extra vaccines come at a great time as CCHD works with its Family Planning clients, who may not be able to afford these vaccines at normal prices.
Vaccines will be given on a first-come-first-served basis, and certain vaccines require future doses. Burwell spoke about how patrons can get started in the Program.
“The vaccine for adults program is designed for adults aged 19 and older who are uninsured or underinsured.”
“Interested patients can call the Health Department at 785-632-3193 and ask the receptionist if they qualify. If they do qualify, they simply make an appointment.”
To see if you qualify, contact the Health Department. Don’t hesitate to call, as supplies are limited.
