CCMC Sees Increase In Birth Rate

By Quinn O’Hara

The Clay County Medical Center has seen a noticeable increase in births, despite Clay County’s slowly declining population.

CCMC’s CEO Austin Gillard said this could be due to other medical centers in the area discontinuing the service:

Gillard said OB services aren’t as profitable as other services, which can pose a challenge to its continuation at a medical center.

Gillard reported that 54 babies were born at CCMC in 2022, and an additional 65 were born at CCMC in 2023.
