On Monday, August 26th the nation will celebrate “man’s best friend” during National Dog Day. Established in 2004 this day is aimed at raising awareness of the number of dogs that are in animal shelters and encourages the adoption of these animals.
National Dog Day also coincides with National Clear the Shelters month, which runs from August 10th to September 10th. The Clay County Animal & Rescue Center (CCARE) is participating in Clear the Shelters, offering reduced adoption fees and other special events throughout the month. John Rieb, Shelter Manager, said this is one of their biggest yearly projects.
Visit CCARE’s website or Facebook page to see all the dogs up for adoption and celebrate National Dog Day with a new family member.
