The Clay Center Carnegie Library is hosting a summer reading program. The yearly program runs from the beginning of June and ends on July 10. This year’s summer reading kickoff will take place at 2 pm at Lincoln Elementary and host entertainer Mike Schnieder’s “Pint-Size Polka.”

The Children’s Librarian for the Clay Center Carnegie Library, Pixie Knepper, said the program will help kids maintain reading skills over the summer.

Events will be held at the library, Dexter Park, and the Clay Center Zoo. Parents are encouraged to stop by the library to pick up a copy of the summer reading calendar for a full list of events, dates, and times.

Knepper said she and the Clay Center Carnegie Library are thankful for the Friends of the Library Board and several community sponsors for the ability to provide additional programming and further encourage a love of reading in the community’s youth.
