Clay Center City Council met on August 20th for its Regular Meeting

Topics discussed during the August 20th Clay Center City Council meeting included sidewalk replacement, the Mitigation Action Plan, ballfield sprinklers, Public Recreation Programs, and more.

Councilor Daton Hess and Ken Shiver, Street Superintendent, reported to the Council that they met with Thomas Mulligan to speak about the replacement of sidewalks in the City. The Rotary Club will provide this project’s supplies, labor, and equipment. The street department will provide a map of the sidewalks that need to be replaced.

Councilor Hess also informed the Council that he attended a Mitigation Action Plan meeting with the County Emergency Management Office. The Council will need to pass a plan prior to next year.

Councilor Phil Kasper reported that the ballfield sprinkler system projects are continuing with Campbell and Montel fields being complete. Schaulis Field will be next, then the Fairground ballfields. He also informed the Council that the Fall Public Recreation Programs have had great enrollment in fall sports.

Councilor Mike Schultze informed the Council that a building permit was issued for the installation of a Carport in the City.
