By Ryan Duey

From May 29th to the 31st Clay Center FFA Members traveled to Manhattan for the 96th Kansas FFA Convention with District winners of their Category competing during this State Competition.

Student Candace Lippe took home first place in Diversified Horticulture Proficiency and will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October. Lauren Benfer and Addy Pfizenmaier made it as finalists as well.

Andrea Flegler, FFA Advisor, said these students worked very hard all year in their respective fields.

As a team, Clay Center FFA took fifth place in this year’s Triple Crown Award. Flegler said they were gold in the 3 areas as a National Chapter.

Flegler said she and Mr. Craig are very proud of this group and the work they put in, and maybe next year they’ll get even higher in the ranks as a Team.
