Clay Center Fire Department to Begin Hydrant Flushing on September 3rd

By: Ryan Duey

The Clay Center Fire Department has announced that on Tuesday, September 3rd they will start their annual flushing and flow testing of fire hydrants in the City. The flushing process will begin in the NE corner of Clay Center and continue for approximately three weeks. This is necessary to ensure that all fire hydrants are operating correctly.

Household water may become discolored during the flushing process. Running faucets for a short period of time should clear up the discoloration. If the water pressure drops and does not return to normal by the end of the day, remove the faucet aerators and check for sediment that could be plugging the screens.
