Clay Center Presbyterian Manor has announced the launch of its annual “Angel Tree Campaign.” This yearly holiday fundraiser helps raise money for the Good Samaritan Program.
The Good Samaritan Program is aimed at helping senior residents who have outlived their resources, due to no fault of their own. Amy Hoch Altwegg, Director, said due to this program they have never had to ask a resident to leave.
“It can help in many different ways to cover some of their basic essentials. Through this program, we can say that we’ve never had to ask a resident to leave because they couldn’t pay.”
“It’s a program that really helps, and the money that’s raised here stays here. We use the donations towards our own residents if they have a need.”
Altwegg emphasized that proceeds raised from this annual fundraiser stay in Clay Center, helping local residents if needed. She said this is a great program that puts people’s minds at ease because long-term care is expensive and sometimes residents run out of resources due to no fault of their own.
Altwegg said they are very thankful for the donations and all funds will go to good use. She spoke of the many ways a person can donate to this cause.
“People can visit our website to make donations. They can come by here, we have QR codes, or we have envelopes they can leave the money in. They can mail it to us, and we will handle that from here. We’ll even come to you if you’re local and pick up a check if you want to do it that way. Anyway, we’re happy to help.”
As people live longer it is becoming more common for elderly residents to run out of resources due to no fault of their own. The Angel Tree Campaign is a great way to help these residents, and their families live a little easier.
