On Saturday, September 28th the Clay Center Courthouse Square will be full of vendors, food trucks, and citizens during Clay Center’s annual Piotique Celebration. Since 1936 Piotique has celebrated the area’s pioneer and antique heritage.
Hosted by Grow Clay County, Piotique has grown into an all-day event starting with a 10K and 2-mile race at 7:00 a.m. This year’s celebration will feature staples such as the 13th annual Cruise Night on Friday, T-Rex Race, The Grand Parade, Dance Performances, and more. Kathryn Doster-Tipsword, Grow Clay County Event Coordinator, highlighted some new additions to this year’s Piotique.
Tipsword said the Parade time will also be changed to 11:00 a.m., to try to beat the heat that is usually accompanied with Piotique. Tipsword said this is a special weekend for the community.
Linda Underwood, who volunteers hours of her time helping those in need throughout the community has been honored as this year’s Grand Marshall. A full schedule of events can be found on the Grow Clay County Facebook page and website.
