Clay Center’s Anita Breen has been selected to serve as a member of the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities.
A press release from the Kansas Office of the Governor said members of the Council are tasked with advocating for change to increase the productivity, independence, integration, and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Kansas communities. Breen said during her four-year-term she plans to address the lack of opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities after high school.
Breen said she will also advocate for meaningful employment for Kansans with developmental disabilities to get them out of the house, into their communities, and to foster a sense of purpose.
Breen currently works as a Director of Special Education for the Twin Lakes Educational Cooperative. Breen said she will continue her position with TLEC while serving on the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities.
