Clay County Commissioners Discuss Green Cafe, EMS, More

The Clay County Commissioners met on Monday, March 11, for the regular meeting. Topics discussed included the Green Cafe, CCEMS, active shooter drills, Riley Community Corrections, donations, and more.

Jay Bohnenblust of the Green Cafe reported on repairs to the Cafe. The Commissioners voted to donate $15,000 to purchase a new stove exhaust hood for the Cafe.

Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper reported on Department projects and announced that he has been elected as the Vice President of the Kansas County Highway Association District 2.

CCEMS Director Alec Trembath reported that the AEMT classes at CCEMS are nearly finished.

Sheriff Benninga reported on the Department’s Active Shooter Drill training at Clay Center Community High School and the Clay Center Middle School. Sheriff Benninga has also refiled as a candidate for Clay County Sheriff.

The Commissioners voted to appoint Matt Weller and re-appoint Lisa Last to serve on the 21st Judicial District Joint Corrections Advisory Board.

The Commissioners also donated $500 to the 155th Wakefield Birthday Bash, and $1,000 to the Longford Rodeo.
