April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.

In recognition of the event, the Clay County Health Department and several community members gathered at the Health Department Building on Friday, April 5, dressed in blue to show their support.

Community Organizer Lori Martin said she was happy to see a large turnout for the meeting.

Lisa Daniels, the Program Director for Clay County Childcare Inc. said bringing awareness to these issues is important.

CCHD Nurse Nikki Burwell, who helped to organize the meeting, said that all children deserve happy childhoods and bright futures, and that child abuse should be fought against not just in April but all year long.
