The Clay County Health Department (CCHD) and the Health and Wellness Advisory Committee at Little Learners will host a Community Wellness Fair on Saturday, October 25th, at the Clay County Event Center. The Fair will run from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Allie Fitzgerald, CCHD Lab Director, spoke about the wide range of services that will be offered at the Fair.
“We will be offering a wide range of health screenings.”
“Free services will include blood pressure checks, height and weight measurements, vision and hearing assessments, mental health screenings, and fall risk evaluations.”
“We’ll also have fee-for-service blood draws and influenza vaccinations available.”
“Beyond the screenings, there will also be booths focused on many areas of wellness, nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and financial health. We’ll have all aspects covered.”
Lab screenings, including a Health Panel, B12 and Folate, Iron, Hemoglobin A1C, Vitamin D, Prostate Antigen for men, and more, will be available at a discounted cost.
Most services that will be available are free, but attendees are asked to bring their insurance card and payment if they plan to receive vaccines or lab draws. Anyone planning to participate in the lab draw should fast for 8-12 hours before arriving.
Fitzgerald wanted to emphasize that the Wellness Fair is a family-friendly event, meant for everyone. This event is a great time to learn about all the services Clay County has to offer.
“The goal is to make healthcare more accessible and approachable by offering screenings and resources all in one place.”
“We really hope that we leave people feeling more informed about their health, connected to local providers, and empowered to take the next steps towards wellness altogether.”
“For some, it may be the first time learning about their health concern, and for others, it may be finding support that they didn’t realize was available in Clay County.”
“We encourage everyone to stop by, ask questions, and take advantage of the services being offered.
