Clay County Hospital Foundation Surpasses Initial Goal, Calls for Community Support toFully Equip New Mental Health Clinic and Expanded Clinic

Press Release

Clay Center, KS – The Clay County Hospital Foundation’s campaign to support the construction of a new mental health clinic and expansion of Clay Center Family Physicians has attracted broad financial support from the region. The fundraising effort quickly surpassed its baseline goal of raising $150,000 to help pay for part of the furnishings, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) in the expansion.

But just like it did in past campaigns for the Clay Center Family Physicians clinic renovation and for the construction of Clyde Family Physicians’ new clinic, the Foundation is now striving to cover the entire cost of the FF&E with a campaign stretch goal of $300,000.

“We have raised over $200,000 and we have one room left waiting for a sponsor, but we’d like to see the community step up and help Clay County Medical Center’s endeavor to provide new medical services by covering the entire cost of the FF&E for this project like we’ve done in the past,” said Dan Thalmann, campaign director. “Local healthcare has always been such a high priority for the community, and we know there will be meaningful new medical enhancements associated with this project, so we’d love to help cover the costs involved with this project.”

Construction on the 6,765 square-foot addition is set to begin in August with an expected
completion in April 2025. The $3.8 million construction project will include a 2,422-square-foot
mental health clinic and a 4,343-square-foot expansion of Clay Center Family Physicians with
dedicated space for surgery and pulmonology services, along with enhancements to the emergency department and a parking lot expansion for the wellness center and therapy departments.
