Clay County Medical Center is excited to welcome Alya Houghton, MSN,
APRN, NP-C to our team! Alya brings a wealth of experience in family medicine and a deep
commitment to patient care. She and her son, Kane (8), have called Clay Center home since 2023,
and she is eager to serve the community that has already welcomed them so warmly.

Alya grew up in Randall, Kansas, in Jewell County. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(BSN) from Fort Hays State University, graduating with honors in 2013. She then pursued her Master
of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner at Walden University, again graduating with
honors in 2018.

Alya’s career in healthcare has been diverse and well-rounded, starting as a CNA at Mitchell County
Hospital Health Systems in Beloit, Kansas. After earning her nursing degree, she worked as a
Registered Nurse at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, followed by Manhattan Surgical
Hospital, where she gained valuable experience in patient care.

After becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2018, Alya began working in family medicine,
providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages. She has practiced in multiple settings, including
Republic County Family Physicians in Kansas and Silver Creek Family Practice in Arizona, gaining
experience in both rural and urban communities. Later, she served military personnel and their
families at Munson Army Health Center in Fort Leavenworth before returning to Junction City in
2023 to work at Konza Prairie Community Health Center.

Alya enjoys caring for patients across their lifespan, with particular interest in pediatric and
adolescent health and disease prevention. Her decision to join CCMC was driven by her appreciation
for the Clay Center community.

“This community has been very welcoming to my son and I since we arrived in 2023. I wanted to join
the other team members at CCMC to help contribute to the well-being of our community.”

At this time, Alya will be seeing patients at both Linn and Clay Center Family Physicians. In Linn,
she will help grow the primary care practice and will be seeing her own patients, as well as providing
same day visits. In Clay Center, her primary focus to start with will be to increase access for same
day office visits that are needed for acute care when the regular primary care provider is not
available.

Outside of work, Alya enjoys spending time with Kane, attending his school and sporting events,
baking, and making memories with family and friends. She finds motivation in making a tangible
difference in people’s lives and takes great pride in seeing the positive health changes her patients
achieve over time.

One of the most common questions Alya gets is how to pronounce her name: Alya is pronounced like
Kayla without the “K.” Houghton is pronounced How-Ton.

We are thrilled to have Alya on board and look forward to the impact she will have on the
communities we serve!
