The Clay County Museum is getting a new souvenir penny press.

Diana Shaner, the Museum’s Curator of Artifacts, said the press will be another tourist attraction for the community.

The Museum has been given several donations to cover the purchasing cost of the press, including a recent $2,000 donation from the Clay County Commissioners.

The Museum previously reported that the cost of the machine would be $6,575. However, the estimate does not include the cost of any potential artwork designs for the coins. Shaner said several designs are in the works, but none have been finalized. Shaner expects the machine to be ordered within the next few weeks.
