The Clay County Arts Council has announced they are bringing Comedian Scott Long to the Rex Theatre on Saturday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m. for an evening of laughter and family fun.
Long’s comedy has been seen on NBC, Fox, The Bob and Tom Show, and Amazon Prime. His latest Special: Fly Over Comedy, has reached over 1 million views on Amazon Prime. Known for his clean, corporate-style comedy Long has performed in 46 states and 5 different countries in his career.
Long spoke about growing up in the Midwest and getting into comedy.
“I grew up in Iowa. My grandmother was from Kansas, my other grandmother was from Nebraska, and my grandpa was from Missouri. So, I felt like I had the Plains States locked down.”
“I really didn’t know anybody that did anything in entertainment, but I started comedy in the 90s, it was very popular at the time, kind of like it is now, and I found out I had a knack for it. I’ve been doing comedy now for 34 years.”
Voted best Comedian for six of the past seven years by the largest entertainment booking agency in America, Long brings his small-town Midwest roots to the stage. Long said he also likes to incorporate the audience in his shows.
“I talk a lot about being married, and having kids. I had twins at 42 years old, so that’s a unique thing to happen in my life. The audience will find that my comedy can only come from someone who grew up in a smaller town in the Midwest.”
“I also do a lot of improvisation with the crowd. I try to make the audience my costars, so to speak. My comedy is basically about things I think the audience will relate to.”
Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the show. Admission is free for Arts Council members and students. To learn more about Long and his comedy visit his Facebook page or website at www.scottcomedy.com.
