Different Topics Discussed at the April 8th Clay County Commissioner’s Meeting

The Clay County Commission met for their regular meeting on Monday, April 8th. During the meeting, Joel Mason, County Attorney, reported to the Board that a KORA training will be held later this month for all County Department Heads and 2nd in the Office.

Bobby Shomper, Highway Administrator, reported to the Board that he was able to find chip for the 2024 chip and seal project and will present quotes for oil in next week’s Commissioner’s meeting.

Pam Kemp, Emergency Manager, reported to the Board that Clay County Rural Fire Departments helped provide mutual support to Marshall, Riley, and Pottawatomie Counties during the active Wildfires over the weekend.

Tracy Myers, Grow Clay County, asked permission from the Board to use the Courthouse Square on June 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Grow Clay County will host an Event assisting community members with Medicaid enrollment or Medicare re-enrollment, the WIC Program, and Headstart enrollment. The Board granted permission for the use of the Square.

Danny Mesalles, County Appraiser, presented a Residential NRP application for approval. After review, Chairman Carlson signed and approved the application. Mesalles reported to the Board that 23 permits have been issued in the Cities and County thus far in 2024.
