The Clay County Arts Council is bringing the band Lyin’ Eyes, A Tribute to the Eagles, to the Rex Theatre in Clay Center this Saturday, March 8th, at 7:00 p.m.
Based out of Missouri, the band has been together for 45 years performing Classic Rock Hits as Swift Kik. Vocalist and guitarist Barry Poe said Lyin’ Eyes came about in the mid-2000s.
“In 2008 or 2009, when the Tribute Band thing really started taking off, one of the Booking Agents we use contacted us and asked us if we would consider starting up a Tribute Band.”
“As a band, we talked about it and thought about what would fit us best. We chose the Eagles because we had a lot of similarities. We already had two guitarists and multiple lead singers; all we needed was a keyboard player. So, we added a keyboard player and started learning Eagles songs.”
Poe said the Eagles have so many hits that people will know song after song and will enjoy singing along to all their great hits. He said the band is excited to kick off the 2025 tour season.
“This will be our first gig for the year, getting things kicked off. We mostly do a lot of outside things in the warmer weather.”
So, we’re looking forward to getting back out there and getting 2025 started a little earlier, and it’s going to be a good time.”
Poe and another Lyin’ Eyes band member, Kevin Snowden, were actually in Clay Center last November as members of the Journey Tribute Band Revelation. He said they are looking forward to coming back to the Rex to perform for the audience.
Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert. Admission is free for students and Arts Council members. Enjoy an evening of fun and music this Saturday at the Rex Theatre.
