Election Results from Clay County

Clay County saw 1,531 ballots on November 4th for a 25.33% voter turnout. Out of 37 precincts there were two contested races. The first was for USD 379 School Board Position #4. Jason Bergsten took 50.97% of the vote with 736 ballots; Angela Lindhardt took 49.03% with 708 votes. An additional 39 submitted ballots left this race blank. School Board members Andrew Auld and Jeffrey Cannizzo were also re-elected.

Clay Center City Council included the other contested race in Ward 3 between Karla Sweet, who took 82.76% of the vote with 120 ballots and Ryan D. Wilson with 17.24% and 25 ballots. There were three ballots without a vote on this race. City Council members Keith Blake (Ward 1), Elton M. Hess (Ward 2), and Theresa Charbonneau (Ward 4) were also reelected.

Clay County also voted to renew its ½-cent sales tax for road and bridge maintenance. A total of 73.29% voted to approve, or 1,092 votes, while 26.71% or 398 were against; 41 ballots did not answer the question.

Clifton Mayor

Clifton voters from Clay and Washington Counties voted for a mayor between Rick Stanley and John Tilllinghast. In Clay County, Tillinghast received 18 votes for 54.55%. Stanley received 15 votes for 45.45% and two ballots were blank on this race. In Washington County, Tillinghast received 30 votes and Stanley 27.
