Ferguson Rexall Drug owners Dustin and Keri Rogge are bringing their annual Washington County giving tradition to all K-5 students in Clay County with their free school supply giveaway. Open to all elementary students in Clay County, the event will be held on Tuesday, August 5th, and Wednesday, August 6th.
Keri said this annual event is a big process, including speaking to all schools in the county, ordering semi-loads of supplies, inventory, sorting, and more. All while making sure there are enough supplies for every student in the county.
Rogge spoke about how the giveaway event will work.
“Whoever is taking care of that child, they just need to bring them into the pharmacy during business hours.”
“We will ask what grade and what school the student is going to, and then we’ll partner them with a volunteer. They’ll get to go around and shop around for their supplies, and that volunteer is just there to make sure that they get everything off their list.”
“Every student is also going to get a water bottle and a backpack, which they can personalize.”
Rogge emphasized that any parent or guardian who can’t make it to the pharmacy on Tuesday or Wednesday can simply contact the pharmacy. They will fill a backpack for that student to pick up later.
The pharmacy is also collaborating with the Clay Center Elks Lodge during its Back to School Fair event.
“I would like to talk a little bit about the Elks Back to School Fair. They’ve been great to work with through this.”
“We are going to go to the Elks Back to School Fair, and that’s going to be July 29th, 5:30 to 7:00. Students can get some supplies there.”
“They can also see us. We will be there giving out a few things, too. I encourage people to definitely do that also.”
This is for all Clay County elementary students, including Lincoln Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Wakefield Elementary, and the Green Christian School.
The addition of this new giving event, along with the Elks’ annual tradition, ensures all elementary kids in Clay County are ready for the new school year.
