This year, the presidential election takes place on Tuesday, November 5th.
Clay County Clerk Kayla Wang stated, “The deadline for the close of registration on the November Election is October 15, 2024.”
The primary election takes place on Tuesday, August 6th. The deadline to register for this election has already passed.
First-time voters can register both online and in person. The Clay County Clerk’s Office is located on the first floor of the courthouse and has election and registration forms available. To register online, visit the Secretary of State’s Office website.
To register in the county, you must be a Kansas resident and claim Clay County as your legal residence, Wang said. Being a citizen of the United States and at least 18 years of age are also requirements. Not meeting these requirements or being a registered felon is a cause of ineligibility to register. You must be able to prove your residency and identification.
High school students turning 18 before October 15th need only register to vote in the upcoming election.
“It is very important to get out and vote,” Wang said.
