Transport back to the 1980s at the Clay County Free Fair when Fast Times brings its 80s Rock to the Clay County Fairgrounds for a free concert on the Big Stage Friday, July 25th at 8:00 p.m.
Featuring a lineup of five talented artists, Fast Times was born through a love of 80s music in Kansas City. Gin Dorsey, vocalist and original Fast Times member, said she and the original drummer formed the group.
“Fast Times originated in March of 2014, so we just finished celebrating our 10-Year Bandiversary, if you will.
“The band really formed out of the original drummer and I leaving another group and deciding to form the band, and at the same time, we also formed a country band.”
“We’ve been going ever since with a few personnel changes here and there, but essentially the same crew. We’re out here having a great time every year.”
Attendees can enjoy music from various artists, including: Blondie, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Prince, Madonna, and a whole lot more. Dorsey said they don’t pay tribute to one particular band.
“We are an 80s band, but we don’t pay tribute to any one particular artist. We run the whole 80s gamut of music.”
“There’s so much to choose from, and we always end up with great suggestions from the crowd. We are all from that generation, growing up listening to 80s music.”
“There are just so many options, and we try to cover a wide variety of tastes.”
Dorsey said they are excited to come to Clay Center, they have never been to this Fair before, and are looking forward to seeing what it’s all about.
