Residents of Green will again be hosting a Green Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 14th, and Sunday, June 15th. The Yard Sale will take place at the Green Community Christian Center, with doors opening at 8:00 a.m. each day.
All proceeds from the Yard Sale will go to the Green Revitalization Organization (GRO) to help renovate and rejuvenate the old bank building in town. Bev Caley, GRO member, said events like this bring people into town.
“When we have events like this, it brings people to town. There are a lot of people who just enjoy coming into Green and seeing what we’re doing.
“People who lived here, or used to live around here. And so that’s one of the purposes of the sale.”
“The other purpose is to raise funds. We have done many different things, and this year, it is to raise funds to save our old Bank Building.”
The Bank Building is one of the last original buildings still standing in Green. Built in 1918 as a First National Bank, the building has gone through many businesses over its years. The building now sits vacant, but it does host a mural on the north wall.
After a successful sale last weekend, there are still a lot of items up for grabs. There are also other ways people can help if they can’t make the sale.
“We want people to come buy everything at the sale, of course, but if there isn’t anything there you want, you certainly can donate to the Bank Building Project without buying something from the sale.”
“It will be good times at the sale. You know, a lot of green people will come back and visit and have a good time.”
“There’s still life out here in Green! And we’re trying to save what we can. We always invite people to come and see what we’re doing.”
