The Green Revitalization Organization (GRO) invites everyone to their ‘Ribs, Rhythm, and Rides’ barbecue fundraiser this Saturday, October 4th, in the city park.  Food will be served from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., with proceeds from the event going to save the historic bank downtown.

GRO member Molly Brew helped organize the event, with her husband being tasked with cooking up the ribs for attendees. Brew said GRO purchased the historic Bank, hoping to save the deteriorating building.

“The current building was built around 1928, and over the years, it’s been a lot of different things. For probably over 20 years now, it’s basically been vacant, and it’s starting to deteriorate.”

“So, GRO decided we’re going to take on this huge task of trying to save this building. It has kind of become very important to us not to let this one go.”

The afternoon will be filled with delicious food, live music, a classic car show, and more. GRO will also be putting on a Silent Auction, with many large items already being donated.

“There will be a silent auction there as well. Bob Caley Trucking has donated an entire load of rock with delivery and everything.”

“We’ve had some people offer gift baskets and things. Heather and Trent W. have an Airbnb just north of Green, and they have offered a free night’s stay.”

“So, we’ve got some really cool stuff that is going to be on the auction.”

They are also holding a raffle for two half hogs, with processing paid. Both winners will be announced that evening. Tickets can be purchased by contacting a GRO member.

The Serenity Stringband will be the live entertainment. Brew said they may also have additional fun at the event.

Head to Green this Saturday for some great food and fun, all while supporting an important initiative for Green.
