The gate at Greenwood Cemetery has been replaced for the first time since it was installed in the 1970s. Karen Buckner, who oversaw the project, shared that she felt it was time for an upgrade. “I just decided it was time for an update. It was kind of a plain Jane thing,” said Buckner.
The new gate was installed by Double L Construction and features a combination of rock and powder-coated black steel. “I kind of seen some work that Double L had done and I kind of liked it, so I approached them about doing it,” Buckner explained.
The old gate was well-built and required significant effort to remove. “They had to jackhammer to get it out,” she said. “Back in the day, those guys built her for stout.”
With the project completed on September 27th, Buckner is pleased to see the upgrade in place. The cemetery is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.
