Tracy Myers of Grow Clay County was the guest speaker at the Clay Center Lions Club weekly meeting on January 14th. Myers spoke on her role as a Marketplace Insurance Navigator for the region and more.
Myers is a full-time Navigator, providing free assistance to people looking to get affordable health insurance through the Marketplace website, that fits the needs of them or their families.
She said Kansas currently has 27 Navigators in the state, and three come from the Grow Clay County office. Along with Myers, Kathryn Doster-Tipsword and Natalie Muruato also work as Navigators. Myers said she covers eight counties.
“I cover eight counties which are Washington, Cloud, Republic, Mitchell, Saline, and Dickinson County. And we have two people who now help cover Geary and Riley County for us.”
“I also started an Outreach Program back in August down at CKF in Salina. CKF is the addiction treatment facility down there. I help any of the clients and residents that don’t have insurance, or maybe they need to check if they qualify for Medicaid. So, I help them get enrolled in that.”
Along with being a Navigator she also does traveling tourism for the County. She is a member of the Highway 24 Alliance and North Central Kansas Tourism. She talked about things she has worked on with the World Cup coming to Kansas City.
“I did a three day itinerary for Clay County. The folks coming over for the World Cup in 2026, they’ll want things to do in between matches, you know, maybe they have a few free days, or whatever. So, we’re doing these itineraries where they can get away from Kansas City, away from Topeka, or wherever and explore Kansas. You can find the itinerary on the Grow Clay County website.”
During the Marketplace Open Enrollment period, Myers and the other Navigators helped over 100 people in applying for insurance this year. Her position is a federally funded position meant to provide free, unbiased assistance to those with health insurance needs.
