Jeanna Walters-Fancella, Ron Fancella, and Ashley Delehanty spoke to members about supporting veterans in Clay County. Approximately 1,000 veterans (16% of the population) reside in Clay County, with nearly 38% of those veterans using VA for healthcare. The Armory at the Fairgrounds offers a meeting area and services to veterans in the area. The local Scout organizations also provide support. Volunteers are needed for the Wreaths Across America event on December 13th at Greenwood Cemetery.

YLink members spoke about the State Convention that they hosted at the Kansas Dream Car Museum in Manhattan. Multiple speakers presented to nearly 200 students from across Kansas. It was a very successful Convention. YLink and Clay Counts will host a social after the Powderpuff game.

Mike Wilson, Clay County General Public Transportation, spoke about the transportation service. CCGPT offers rides basically anywhere throughout Kansas as needed. Last year, 38% of all rides were for medical care, while this year the number is 24%. Wilson stated that funding has been a struggle this year.

Allie Fitzgerald, Health Department, said the Health Fair had a good turnout. The Drug Take Back held in conjunction with the Fair brought in 61 pounds of unused medication. Fitzgerald, along with Sophia Gallup, Little Learners Childhood Connections, spoke about the Girls on the Run Program. The final 5k race took place on November 9th.  7 girls participated in the program this year.

164 people attended the October Courageous Conversation Event “Can’t Look Away” at the Rex Theatre.

The next Clay Counts meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, at the Stuart Administrative Center.
