Both YLink 5th quarter events had strong student turnout, with 100 students attending the first Laua event, and 72 students attending the Neon Party. 10 students from Wakefield and CCHS attended the Bandana Squad Training held at Common Grounds in Clay Center.
CCCHS is hosting this year’s YLink State Conference in Manhattan in November. The event is expected to bring an estimated 250 students from across the state. The conference will be held at the Midwest Dream Car Collection on November 4th. Volunteers are needed.
Gather for Good Match Day brought in around $3,000 total for the Coalition. Thank you letters were sent out to those who donated.
Allie Fitzgerald, CCHD, said the Clay County Health Fair will be held on the morning of October 25th at the Clay County Event Center. Many health services will be in attendance. A Drug Take Back event will also be held during the Fair. Volunteers are needed for this event.
The Girls on the Run Group has 7 children signed up. The children run with leaders Allie Fitzgerald and Sofia Gallup. The race day event is scheduled for November 16th.
The Coalition voted to place an Ad in the 2025-2026 CCCHS yearbook. A motion was made to purchase a full page to promote YLink and the Coalition, passing unanimously.
Grow Clay County asked if the Coalition would be interested in purchasing a table for the ‘Scream for a Cause’ event on October 25th. Motion was made to purchase a table for runners to stop at, passing unanimously.
Don Wright, Public Transportation, stated that November is free ride month in Clay Center. The public can take advantage of free rides throughout the month.
The next Courageous Conversation event will be held on Tuesday, October 21st, at the Rex Theatre. A powerful documentary titled ‘Can’t Look Away, the Case against Social Media’ will be shown, with Amy Neville of the Alexander Neville Foundation speaking after the screening. Neville tragically lost her son to fentanyl, which he found through social media in 2020. Free popcorn and a drink will be provided to the first 100 attendees. Neville will speak with CCCMS and CCCHS students earlier in the day. Volunteers are needed for this event.
The next Coalition meeting will be held at noon on November 12th at the Stuart Administrative Center.
