July Unemployment Rate Shows Little Change Across Area

Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Division of the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8% in July, which is unchanged from June.

The unemployment rate in Clay County is 4.4%. Across the area, the jobless rate in Dickinson County is at 4.3%. Cloud County sits at 4.1%. Marshall County shows a rate of 3.7%. Republic County is at 3.8%. And Washington County is at an even 4%.

Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 4,300 from June. Total nonfarm includes private sector and government employers. Private sector jobs increased by 700 over the month, while government jobs decreased by 5,000.
