The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Warning from 1:00 p.m. today (Monday) until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1st for the KCLY community.
An Excessive Heat Warning is issued when the temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees during the day. The NWS said heat indexes up to 113 degrees are expected.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to morning or evening, if possible, to reduce heat-related risks. OSHA recommends frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas if you must work outside. Do not leave children or pets in unattended vehicles, car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take immediate action if symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke occur. If symptoms of a heat stroke occur call 911 immediately, as it can be deadly.
