Kinzee Charbonneau recently competed in the Junior Olympics held in College Station, Texas, from July 22 to August 2. Charbonneau was invited to join the Kansas Flyers track club, where she competed in the 4×800-meter relay and the 400-meter dash. Her participation was the result of her impressive times during the school track season and a recommendation from Lauren Smith, a well-known local runner.
Charbonneau described the training as rigorous, involving three to four-mile warm-ups and timed workouts, practicing twice a week. Despite the challenges, she emphasized the importance of perseverance, stating, “Don’t quit if it’s tiring.”
Looking ahead, Charbonneau aims to continue her training with goals of breaking school records in the 400 and 200 meters. She plans to participate in indoor track meets and maintain her conditioning through regular running, even during volleyball season, as she prepares for the next track season.
