Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation (CCCIF)’s new Executive Director, Krista Thomas, spoke to Clay Center Lions Club members during their regular meeting on August 5th.

A native of Clay Center, Thomas spent her recent years as a teacher in the USD 379 School District.  With a very busy family life in mind, she decided to make the move to CCCIF, continuing to make a positive impact in the community, along with having more flexibility for her family.

Thomas said her role, along with the other area Executive Directors’ roles, became available through the Patterson Family Foundation.

“My job became available through the Patterson Family Foundation Capacity Building Grant. They are the ones who have allowed these full-time director positions to become a thing.”

“It’s a three-year grant, and we do have to meet certain requirements. We partner with the Kansas Leadership Center, which is out of Wichita. They provide leadership training for us and some one-on-one coaching.”

Thomas is currently gearing up for the 2025 Gather for Good Match Day, set for Thursday, September 18th.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of the 8th annual Gather for Good Match Day, which will be right here at the museum on September 18th, from noon to 8:00 p.m.”

“We have 52 funds participating this year, so that’s exciting. That’s the most funds that we’ve ever had.”

“On Match Day, each fund gets up to $2000 match, so we’re excited to offer that again this year.”

Along with preparing for Match Day, Thomas also plays an important role in the new Multi-Generational Center initiative, handling the funds for the project.

Over time, Thomas hopes to grow the Foundation, including making the community aware of the impact of CCCIF and the community.
