Lady Tigers Win Defensive Battle At Marysville

By Rocky Downing

Clay Center won a back and forth battle Friday to move (3-0) and claimed the first NCKL win of the year. The Lady Tigers trailed after the opening quarter 13-10; but did take a two point lead into halftime. The game was all square after three quarters 31-31. Clay Center would trail 37-33 deep into the fourth period; but would rally behind three pointers from Miley McGee and Raimee Lipker and an old fashioned three point play on a drive from Lily Edwards. They would eventually put the game away behind huge free throws from Ayla Johnson and Edwards. Those two would lead in scoring with 11 each. Raegann McDonald 9; Miley McGee 5; Raimee Lipker 3; Janae Crimmins 3. Clay Center was big on the boards; McDonald 7; Edwards and Johnson both pulled down five rebounds.
