During the Grow Clay County Awards Gala last month, the Lighthouse for Christ was awarded a $12,000 grant through the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation (CCCIF) for much-needed improvements to their administrative space.
Abby Sprague, Lighthouse Director, and her team have wasted no time in making this dream a reality, with construction beginning at the end of February. Sprague highlighted the improvements that will be made to the space.
“It is going to be a tremendous improvement for us. The new office space will hold our three staff: Treasurer Deanne Kamphaus, Assistant Director Greta Hadduck, and myself.”
“It will also kind of be a dual-purpose space for our volunteers in and out throughout the day.”
Sprague said the construction should not affect store hours or daily activities in any way as the work is being done after hours.
Along with a new office space, referral guests will now have a designated waiting area, said Sprague.
“The old office space is going to be converted into our new referral waiting space, and that is another huge improvement. We did not love that referrals were waiting out in our customer shopping space.”
“We really prayed about getting a space that was more private, that they could wait in, or get services where we can have one-on-one conversations in a dedicated space.”
Some store space is also being updated for the community. Sprague said she is very thankful to CCCIF, and they are all very excited for the work to be completed. She is hoping all construction will be completed by summer.
