The cast and crew of ACT Clay County are getting ready for their Live summer production, ‘The Wings of a Dream,’ with two showings at the Rex Theatre. The first production will take place on Saturday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m., followed by a showing on Sunday, June 22nd at 2:30 p.m.
The play, written by ACT Clay County Director Jan Keim, is a whimsical and comical story meant for the whole family, with a cast and crew of talented individuals from the community. Keim said she drew from her past scripts and experiences in life to write this production. She gave a brief description of the play.
“Ina’s creativity has hit a wall as she works on her next script, and her journey to unleash the looming obstacle before her is guided by a voice in her head, whose name is Ima.”
“Ima takes Ina on an adventure by way of a dream to unlock the creative ideas that are in her mind, waiting to burst forth to the page.”
“Ina meets up with a cast of mixed up characters from several well known classics. The characters are lively, crazy, and very unpredictable.”
Keim said audience members will see several well-known characters throughout the play. The cast and crew are working extremely hard to learn their lines, with some cast members playing more than one part.
Keim wanted to emphasize that ACT Clay County is a nonprofit organization associated with the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation (CCCIF) and runs solely off donations. All cast and crew members are local residents, or your neighbors, as Keim said. There are many ways you can support ACT Clay County.
“There are a variety of ways to be involved in ACT Clay County. It may be behind the scenes, building sets, paintings, it may be running lights. We could definitely use a seamstress who loves to sew for this type of thing.”
“We just want people to know that those opportunities are there. We really want to see ACT Clay County grow and thrive, and hopefully, in the future, be able to do more for the community.”
Donations are always accepted on the CCCIF website, the organization also takes part in the yearly Match Day event.
