Mental Wellness Group for Middle Schoolers to Cover Various Topics in a Fun, Inviting Atmosphere

By: Ryan Duey

Graduate student Krista Wiss will lead a Mental Health Group for Middle School students in Clay Center starting Tuesday, October 1st. This group will run every Tuesday to October 22nd, from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. at Mellies Mental Wellness in downtown Clay Center.

Wiss is a former nurse with many years of experience working with people, including six years as a Psychiatric Nurse.  She is currently completing her graduate degree to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, allowing her to further help patients in the mental health sector.

Wiss said this group is part of her required internship program, and she and Professional Counselor Erin Mellies thought it would be a great idea to gear this group toward Middle Schoolers. Wiss detailed the topics that will be discussed during the group.

Parents and guardians can sign their Middle School child up for this free program by contacting Mellies. Registration details can be found on the Mellies Mental Wellness Facebook page.
