Mizpah Church Women Make Blankets for Children Despite Extreme Winter Weather Conditions

By Payton Tholstrup

The women from Mizpah Church in Clay County made blankets for children on January 7th, 8th, and 9th, despite the extreme winter weather outside. This project has been a longstanding tradition for these women who have been doing this for 30 years now.

Many members contributed three yards of material for each blanket. They worked side by side, pinning and preparing blankets for sewing. One member operated the sewing machine. Even those unable to attend worked at home and contributed funds to help with necessary supplies and the cost of postage.

Labels were sewn in a corner of each blanket with a message reminding every child that Jesus loves them.

The group of women made 30 blankets in total. 18 blankets were given to local organizations in Clay County, while 11 were mailed to church mission groups. One blanket went to a local child with health issues.

The completed blankets were displayed during church on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, for everyone to see, with Mary Adams reading a summary of why this project is so meaningful.
