Rhiannon Garcia was recently sworn into Wakefield City Council Seat #1 after running unopposed in the most recent Wakefield City Election.

Garcia was born in Texas, but raised in Wakefield. Her father, long-time Wakefield resident Randy Garcia, was a former Wakefield City Council Member for five years. Rhiannon said she was inspired by the work her father did on the council and wanted to continue that legacy.

Garcia says a top priority for her time in office is to preserve the small town feel of Wakefield. She also says ensuring Wakefield Schools stay open is vital to the survival of the town:

Garcia says she is looking forward to her first four years as a member of the council, citing the group’s current diversity as a main factor:

In her free time Garcia likes to crochet, make handbags, read books, and go for walks in the Kansas Landscape Arboretum just outside of Wakefield. She says she is excited to continue her father’s legacy and preserve the integrity of her hometown.
