New Wakefield Principal Mark Moneypenny Looking Forward To Engaging With New Community

By Quinn O’Hara

USD 379 has selected Mark Moneypenny to replace Mike Teeter, who previously announced his retirement, as the Principal of the Wakefield School.

Moneypenny said he briefly moved to Kansas for a year to complete part of his degree in kinesiology but according to him, 1 year quickly turned into 26.

Since then, Moneypenny has spent 17 years as an elementary physical education teacher, 4 years as a head basketball coach, taught middle school for 2 years during the pandemic, and more over his 26 years in Junction City.

Moneypenny said he chose to become the new Wakefield School Principal because he loves the close-knit community of smaller schools.

Mark Moneypenny will officially take over as Principal of the Wakefield School at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
