Over recent weeks severe winter weather across the state has caused several delays, cancellations, and reschedulings.
USD 379 has canceled four days of school due to those storm systems. Despite this, USD 379 Superintendent Brett Nelson says as of now, no school days will be added onto the end of the 2023-2024 school year:
Nelson says a lot of information factors into the district’s decisions to cancel or delay school days and events, especially current road conditions:
Nelson estimates he has driven between 400-500 miles of Clay County roads in the last 2.5 weeks while surveying road and weather conditions. He says that USD 379 considers the safety of students, bus drivers, parents, and faculty the top priority when deciding on District closures.
