Red Cross Blood Drive to be Held in Wakefield April 22nd

Red Cross

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets. Approximately 29,000 units of blood, 5,000 units of platelets, and 6,500 units of plasma are needed daily to help those in need according to the American Red Cross.

The dangerous winter weather conditions that stretched across the nation earlier this year have resulted in more than 25,000 blood and platelet donations being uncollected. The Red Cross needs donors, especially type O and platelet donors.

The Red Cross will host a Blood Drive in Wakefield on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Wakefield High School from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Patrons can make an appointment by visiting the High School Office. Donors aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form to donate.
